It’s been pretty busy lately around here, both personally and with work. Lot of balancing going on. Couple deals in place that have been a wee, tad-bit difficult. Trying to find time to clean the house, clean the car, clean the dog. Hell, yesterday, it was trying to just keep the dog from eating other dogs when we were on a walk. But that’s for another day.

Mostly lately, I’ve been trying to keep up with Sugar Mama. She’s been home for like a month and during that whole time, she’s been running like crazy. And I mean that literally. Since she posted about it on Facebook last week, I’m going to piggyback on it to start this blog because I think it’s awesome. She’s joined a running club here in town and is training for an 8k in March. She did a 10k, 5k and 5-miler in the fall already, and she’s signed up for the half-marathon next November as well. And she’s absolutely killing it with her training. I honestly don’t know the last time I’ve been so amazed by someone and proud as well. She’s over the top awesomeness right now. But it wasn’t always that way.

No, I don’t mean she was the Loch Ness Monster or something before. She’s always been a great person. But she’s always been a great person with migraines. A lot of migraines. Ones that worried me. Ones that kicked her ass way too many times a week. Ones that the doctors really didn’t know how to help, at least not well enough for my WebMD-wanna-be self.

Then, she dropped the glutens. It’s been a world of difference from what I can see.

Last spring in March, we did the Whole360. It’s an eating plan that basically cuts out all the shitty stuff — picture everything I normally eat — and replaces it with the basics. You can still eat carbs and cheese and stuff, but not processed junk. And then after 30 days, you add it back in little by little to help decide what you want to eat and what makes sense not to.

I did it and lost a little weight, definitely felt better afterward. But it wasn’t earth-shattering for me. Until I realized that it meant the world to her.

By cutting out gluten, it made a significant difference in her migraines. Lately, it’s like it gave her a new lease on life. She has more energy and motivation. And she’s taken advantage. She’s killing me on running right now, so I started back up last week. And I love it. Love the active life it’s given us.

It kinda struck home when I saw this video the other day. Take a minute to watch it all the way through. Consider it a favor to me even if you’ve seen it before. It’s worth another look.

I have a lot of big balls. Family. Friends. Travel. Writing. And now even my business as it continues to grow and I’m finding more success almost by the week. I can’t wait to see how life gets even better as we enjoy running through it together. Literally. It’s exhilarating thinking about the possibilities.

And that makes me want to ask a couple questions. Because if you’re reading this, you likely mean something to me. Whether you’ve been one of my Refrigerator Rules Guys for three-plus decades, or a half-brother, part-sister, step-cousin, whatever relation, or even a friend I haven’t seen since high school. If you’re here, you obviously care enough to read something I took the time to write. So, I have to ask you:

Are you using your time wisely?

Is your jar completely full?

What are your balls made of?

If it’s not already, then start filling that jar today. Find your passion. Be intrigued with life. Explore new things. Don’t fucking wait for it to come to you; go get it. Now. Today. Run your ass off like Sugar Mama and find you, the real you, and what makes you happy.

And when you’re all set, let me know so we can grab a beer together. Alcohol is a big ball for me, and yet that’s another blog coming soon too.
