“Live for the moments you can’t put into words.”
ddddddddddddddddddddddd— Kid Rock
I’m sure you’re as surprised to be reading this blog as I am to be writing it. It’s been about seven months since my last post, and not totally without reason. I’ve had a hard time feeling like I could write something that was better, more meaningful or worthwhile as the last post I made when we went to Arizona and got one of our guys out of prison in May. I’ve tried to write a few times, and it seemed pretty commonplace, boring even, compared to that post. Finally, I have come to the determination that very few posts will ever have that type of meaning again, and because of that, I shouldn’t base my writing on comparison. It should be based purely on the content or context. In other words, I need to get off my ass and just write things that need to be written down and not wait for the perfect moment.
With that in mind, I’m not even going to write a blog for the year end. Instead, I’ll follow Mr. Rock there at the top of this page and use his wisdom to give you some of the best moments of my 2013. There were others, some fun, some serious, some indescribable with words… and I’m the king of talking and words but I couldn’t even do justice to some of the moments I’ve had this year.
So, enjoy. You’ve probably seen most of these on Facebook or Instagram (shameless plug: follow me at _trickie_ ) but they stand out to me as the ones I hope to reflect on fondly in years to come.
If you’re reading this, I hope you have a great 2014 and finish out 2013 in whatever fashion you prefer (I prefer full of steak, champagne and beer, which will not be a problem for me tonight).
Yes, I post pictures of my dog. And cats. And motorcycle. And beer. And liquor. If you can’t deal with it, then you really should read something else because there wasn’t much else that I found more pleasing that hanging with this motley, fucked up crew.

Welcome to the family. The picture was from months before but the first time I saw it was in 2013. Not sure if the adults or the kids liked doing it more.
Little chance they’ll look at each other, but lot of lazy going on anyway.

Someone is pretty mean and doesn’t like to be woken up… the other is the dogger. 🙂
If you didn’t read it before or missed it at the top of this page, read my blog about our little ole trip to Arizona to see a buddy we’d been without for 18 years. Click here to check out the trip.

One of the best pics I was lucky enough to get all year.
We had a lot of critter pics this year. This black widow under the back door is one we could probably do without seeing again. Still, it was one of my favorite pics of the year.
F’ing does not do pictures. This was an aberration and I was lucky to get away without getting cut.
The first of two O.A.R. concerts during 2013. This one was at Tabernacle, one of the coolest venues to see a show. Hopefully there will be another in the future.

Tattoo No. 7. I’ve wanted this one for years, and finally got around to it. Now, to start thinking about what I want for No. 8 in June of 2014. Yes, it’s a yearly thing now that I’ll go to my favorite tattoo artist (who is awesome and you should check her out if you’re ever in Atlanta) in June for one more.

I can’t believe I waited this long to get my motorcycle license. Now, I can’t think I’ll ever stop.
Bunch of fucks going to a fucking Cubs game. Fuckers.
This is the typical hand I drew in 2013. Enough said. #FML
Year 19 of CCMP was an unabashed success, much like the previous 18. I really cannot wait for Year 20 in 2014.
July 4 at the Georgia Aquarium with one of our favorite local ’70s jam bands. This may be my favorite picture of us ever. The only one that might be better is our picture in the stands at the Chiefs game a few years ago.
A little weekend away in the nation’s capital. What a great place. I love history and it oozes out of everything in that town. No matter your taste or preference for politics, do yourself a favor and make the trip if you have never been.
I’m not sure I ever really lived until I got this. It may not be the baddest, but it’s badass as far as I’m concerned. There is NOTHING like getting out on the road and losing yourself. I can’t wait for more in 2014.
Someone needed her picture taken. I obliged … many times in 2013. Don’t expect it to stop any time soon.
I have never cared about sitting up close at concerts. I’m there for the music. Making a three-hour drive each way just to hear Pearl Jam play for nearly three hours — including a blistering performance of “Immortality” — was completely worth it. Seeing PJ three times in the past four years… we may need to make it four in five in 2014 (and they’re touring Europe in the summer, hint, hint, Sugar Mama).

This was on our way to dinner one night this fall. What a bummer.
O.A.R. for Round 2 in Birmingham, Ala. This wasn’t as rocking of a show because the crowd sucked, but still, there are few bands I’d rather see. And they played the song I requested via Twitter, so that was a win.
I stopped on one of my rides this fall to get a picture and pretty quickly concluded I need to every time I go for a long ride. This one came around Veteran’s Day and was indeed pretty special.
Sometimes I think I should be a professional photographer. Other times I remember that it’s a dog and an iPhone, and that I should just continue to write blogs.
This is a common conversation. No, not as in the tone is typical. I have this exact conversation every time I go to the store alone and milk is on the list.

Have bike, will travel. And if there’s a Six Flags on the way, that’s even better.
Las Vegas for the third time in 20 months. We just really like visiting where we got married. It has nothing to do with the gambling and drinking and gambling. No, not at all. (click the pic to go to my Facebook page to watch the video of this fountain show during our dinner on the balcony of Olives in Bellagio).
From all of our crazy to all of yours, we hope 2013 was everything you wanted, and 2014 will be even more.
