As I sit here on my deck watching teamCAC try to find new ways to jump on the railing (which is a good 20 feet off the ground), this is what’s going through my head:

  • Glad to hear the Big Ten is going to announce its new divisions with the Huskers included tonight. Seems I was pretty close with my predictions over the weekend, with only two teams (Minnesota and Illinois) being put in the wrong divisions by the conference brass. That’s OK. I’ll forgive them even though I really wanted Wisconsin and Nebraska in the same division. I knew it didn’t make sense, which is why I didn’t have them together in my prediction, but as a Badger fan and a Husker fan, that game would have been awesome every year. I have no idea when I’ll get back to Lincoln for a game, but I’m positive that whenever those two play–in Lincoln or Madison–I will be there. Not sure which team I’ll be cheering for, but I’ll definitely be wearing red.
  • I need to do a little studying. I figured that tomorrow I should plan to blog about 90210 since tomorrow is 9-02-10. That show was never super high on my list. I think somehow the early ’90s got away from me. I don’t remember a lot of it. (Weird, I know, right?) But I never watched a single minute of Melrose Place, only watched 90210 sparingly and don’t really recall much else on TV. Well, I shouldn’t say that. I remember Doogie Howser, M.D. and Saved by the Bell. Not sure what that says.
  • Yuengling is probably the most underrated beer in America. Hell, it’s probably underrated because too many people think it’s an import. It’s not. It’s from Pennsylvania and has been brewed there since 1829, or at least that’s what I believe since the bottle I’m holding says so. And I believe everything they’ve ever written on a beer bottle. I don’t remember all of it now, but I used to be able to recite, word for word, the labels for Budweiser, Rolling Rock and Old Milwaukee’s Best Light. I guess I’m getting old since I can’t remember any of them.
  • Did you know?….  Pamela Anderson Lee is Canada’s Centennial Baby, recognized as being the first baby born on the centennial anniversary of Canada’s confederation as a nation. I did not know this either but I found it here with a bunch of other random facts.
  • I got caught up in writing my feature story for the NCAA.com volleyball blog (posted here; yes, I’m schilling for people to check it out) and didn’t do my draft for a fantasy league I joined on NFL.com. It’s the first one I’ve done in years with people I have never met. I wanted to trash talk during it, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be since I forgot it until this morning when I got an email with my roster included. I must have drafted second since I got Adrian Peterson.
  • In my real league, the one where I AM THE CHAMPION, our draft was on Saturday. I thought it went fairly well. I kept Chris Johnson and Aaron Rodgers and picked up, in order, LeSean McCoy, Anquan Boldin, Jamaal Charles, Chad Ochocinco, Jerome Harrison, Dewayne Bowe, Santana Moss, Brandon Jacobs, Bernard Berrian, Carson Palmer, Sydney Rice and Rob Bironas. Remember, this is a points-only league. Touchdowns do not matter. I think I may have stretched on LeSean McCoy, but paired with Johnson, I felt ok since they’d be starters. With three more starting RBs, I feel good there, and hope that maybe one of them will get off to a great start and I can trade them for help at WR. I like Boldin and Ochocinco, but only as No. 2 WRs. The fact that I’ll have to play them together sucks. If Rice comes back in shape and healthy, that may help me down the stretch, which is where I always need a little push. So, overall, I’m pretty pleased. And even if I suck, I was at least champion for one year. Finally. And I’m sure people will never forget it…. because I won’t let them.
  • Is anyone a big Sons of Anarchy fan? I love the show and can’t wait till it starts next week. The creator is a freak. I follow his tweets and blog and he’s just a mess. But the guy makes a helluva show. I’m excited.
