Just some random thoughts here from today:
1) Nate Dogg is really underrated. I can’t speak in an educated way about rap other than I don’t hate it, and in general I probably like it better than country. Well, not old school country, that shit like Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings and the old-timers, and some of that twangy, rockabilly stuff is pretty cool too. But that Alabama through about 2007 country and all chick country, that stuff is not at the top of my list. Anyway, Nate Dogg has got to be up there on the most underappreciated rappers of probably ever. Shake That just came on my Pandora station and I was doing just that, all around my chair, around the room and into the kitchen. TeamCAC probably thought I was having a seizure or something, but whatever. Shake That definitely Rocks That around here.
2) I think I should ask sugar mama for a maid. I woke up this morning and it just hit me that I’m not really made for cleaning. Now, I can do it and do it well when I want to, but seeing as I’m “freelancing” right now, I’m here all the time. In fact, I’ve gone out exactly twice this week. The first time was to take sugar mama to the airport at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, and then I went back out yesterday to run some errands (and yes, they were sugar mama errands, get off my ass). Now tonight, I’ll go back out and pick sugar mama up from the airport. So that’ll be three times this week I’ve ventured outside the house. That means there’s a lot of time here when I feel like I should be cleaning and picking up. It’s a lot of pressure and I just think there’s plenty of reasons we should have one. First, there’s the economy. It’s for shit, and we should do our part to pick it up and create a job. And second, there’s the ManCard. In the Rules, under ManPoints, section 3, subheader B, point 13-f, it states that, “Bonus ManCard points will be awarded for random or working women in the house on a regular basis. Senior status can be achieved if you get the wife/girlfriend to think it was her idea.” So from an economic and ethical standpoint, I really should have some help around here.
3) Do the Cubs even exist? Fuckers. And now they trade D-Lee to the Braves? I mean, I’m fine (read: happy) that he’s gone since he wasn’t going to get resigned after this year, and hopefully he can do something and go out on top with them, although I would hate on so many levels if they won it all. And since we’re obviously going to have no pitching in Triple A next year–they’re all going to be in the Big Leagues, where six of them pitched yesterday–we might as well get some arms for the farm system. The only thing this trade did was make me actually look at the standings and listen to the game again. I hate that I’m a Cubs fan. But damn, I can’t wait till next year.
4) Does anyone have a bookie? I may not have money, but I feel like I should have a bookie now that I don’t work in athletics anymore. I joined a college pick ’em contest on ESPN that a friend set up (she writes blogs too and they’re good… read ’em here) and now I feel like I should bet more, on anything. I might even take the over on the number of participants in this year’s Rock, Paper, Scissors World Championships
5) Tip of the day: always take paper.
6) Same Pandora channel (Kid Rock) is now playing “Blaze of Glory” by Bon Jovi. Another underrated song, although possibly an overrated band. Love ’em, don’t get me wrong, but bit on the big-for-their-britches side. Although Jon Bon Jovi did own an AFL team.
7) Does the AFL still exist?
